Who We Are

Emma Brown

Cow-calf operator in Northwestern Colorado

I guess you could say I’ve been a producer all of my life. I grew up on my family’s cow/calf operation in Northwestern Colorado. When I was about nine or 10, I took out a FSA loan to purchase my first bundle of cows.

There have been five generations in my family that have been in the cattle business but only two generations at our current operation where we raise certified natural cattle.

My family was the primary reason I got involved in the cattle industry. As I grew up on the ranch, I learned a lot of important life lessons and I could not have asked for a better lifestyle.

I grew up with twenty thousand acres of backyard to play in. While growing up I learned how to properly take care of the all of the pets that I had responsibility for. My chores didn’t just consist of taking out the trash or feeding the dog like other kids, my chores were haying the horses, feeding and working with my 4-H steer and going out every morning rain or shine to feed the cattle for the day.

Being a producer is a very satisfying and prideful state of mind for me. It’s that legendary idea that we, the American ranchers, are feeding the homeland. As producers, we are constantly doing our best to bring safe, nutritious and tasty products to the table for people to enjoy. I couldn’t be happier doing any other kind of work.
